A Community Pharmacy Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) service has recently launched across Hertfordshire and West Essex (HWE) following a successful pilot in Hertsmere and Dacorum in Hertfordshire.
The UTI service is open to non-pregnant female patients aged 16 – 64 years old who haven’t had a current or recent fever within the last 48 hours and are registered, (including temporary registration), with the practice.
If considered clinically appropriate and no contraindications, pharmacists will be able to supply prescription-only medications Nitrofurantoin/Trimethoprim.
This service allows patients in the eligibility criteria to walk in and self-refer, without needing to contact the practice directly. Please see the below local pharmacies who are participating in this service.
We are hopeful that this will be available in more pharmacies going forward.
