COVID-19 Spring Booster

Posted on April 18th, 2024

This spring, we will be offering the COVID-19 spring booster vaccination to those eligible. Clinics will be held across our sites allowing patients to receive their vaccination close to home.

Who is eligible:

  • Over 75s (including those that turn 75 by 30th June 2024).
  • Individuals aged 6 months and over with a weakened immune system.
  • Care Home Residents.

Please note vaccinations for eligible care home residents and housebound patients will be administered by Hertfordshire Community Trust, not the practice.

Vaccine being used:

  • Moderna XBB 1.5 – this is the only vaccination available for the practice to obtain.

If you have had a severe reaction to a previous dose of the COVID-19 vaccine you should continue to follow advice and guidance from Addenbrookes/CUHFT. Please also let the practice know if you would like the vaccination so that we can action appropriately or seek further guidance, where necessary.

Clinic Dates:

  • Saturday 4th May – Berkhamsted
  • Wednesday 15th May – The New Surgery
  • Saturday 1st June – Markyate and Rothschild House Surgery, Chapel Street

We will be contacting our eligible patients this week to invite them to book – please do not contact us until you have received your invite.

📱 The practice is using self-book links to invite eligible patients, which we have used previously to invite patients for their annual reviews, flu and the autumn covid booster etc. This means that patients who meet the criteria for vaccination will receive a SMS message inviting them to book an appointment online.

📩 Patients who do not have a mobile number associated with their record, or those who do not wish to receive SMS messages from the practice, will receive a letter through the post.

Format of the clinics:

✏ Patients will be given a form to complete on arrival, to then take with them to their vaccinator, as they did for the autumn booster.

Additional Information:

The first appointments of each clinic will be for immunosuppressed individuals to allow vulnerable patients to attend before anyone else has entered the building.
